This was one of the questions that came up in my early conversations with noted Nigerian activist and philosopher Bayo Akomolafe. We were discussing the journey of rebuilding his website from the ground up, and Bayo wished to transcend the strictures of the dreaded and familiar grid which had for so many years boxed his ideas in and left them no room to breathe.

He sought a new website which felt alive and experiential, a place for his thoughts and musings, his engagements and offerings, and a whole lot more to reside freely. So we set to work for months – with the help of the brilliant artist Jon Marro – to create a virtual world befitting of Bayo’s explorations of the nuances of a “magical” world “too promiscuous to fit neatly into our fondest notions of it.”
